about

'Cabaret Sadness Social Club' is not only my first non-sampling based album, it is also my first guitar album in a long time and as such, it represents a departure from my previous albums.

I began working on these tracks around June/July 2021, putting together some melodies and basic chords structures while at the same time chasing guitar tones, mainly using overdrives, tremolos and a physical spring reverb unit, diving into pedals and vintage FX racks and understanding that the emotional character of these songs is based on the textural granularity of the guitar tone.

Most of the tracks are one single take and they were barely changed during mixing - I tried to be faithful to the moment in which they were played, as a testament to the 'here and now' of the performance and avoiding the tendency to overthink what a song should be while we forget to enjoy what it really is.

'Cabaret Sadness Social Club' is just the beginning of a new musical path for me. There will be more guitar sounds in a near future.

Hope you enjoy it!
